The crash is *in* Leopard's USB driver.

Ok...  This these (stop when (hopefully) something works)

Run a verify disk pass with Disk Utility.  If it finds errors, boot 
on your OS DVD and Repair Disk.  Also repair permissions while you're 
at it.  (Long shot but we need to cover the bases).

Run a few passes with a memory test tool, either from an Apple 
hardware test disc or using Memtest (which is included as an optional 
install with AppleJack).  (another long shot).

Maybe the cached driver is corrupt.  Try clearing the system and 
kernel caches, using a tool such as OnyX or do a deep cleaning with 
AppleJack.  (more likely than the above)

Maybe the driver itself is corrupted or buggy.  Try (re)applying the 
latest combo update to Leopard.

Do you have a hot backup (clone) of a prior version of Leopard?  It 
might be worth trying that.
