At this point, I'd bee tempted to re-install the 450 CPU, set the  
jumpers for IT to run at 300, and compare.
If O.K., I'd bump it up 50~ or so and try again, to see where the  
problems start.
You may b able to run the thing at 400 successfully!
Then again, it may be that the memory is what is 'glitching'. OSX is  
famous for finding marginal memory problems.
