Hi, I'm new to this list and a lifetime mac user. I'm not that
technical but have done my share of routine upgrades.

I have a G4 Dual 450 with 2GB RAM running OSX 10.3.9. I bought and
installed this drive and ran an app call PatchBurn so it would work
with my OS:

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-116D

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827129023

It works for burning data DVDs and CD-Rs so far, haven't tried
anything else. But it burns audio CDs pretty slowly, takes over 15
minutes, nowhere near the 40X peak capability of the drive. I would
like to avoid intalling OSX 10.4 if possible. The 40 pin cable is the
original that came with the computer.

Any ideas on how to get this thing to work faster?

Thanks
Ken
