Yes I'm just burning from iTunes.  I had a firewire CD-R before and it
wrote much faster (14X +) before it finally died.  The wierd thing
with this new drive is that iTunes rarely displays the write speed,
just finish time, but when it does it doesn't really get above 8X.  I
have my setting in iTunes to use maximum possible speed for burning.
For data I'm not sure, I will have to try it again.
