Dan, Bruce:

Thank you both for getting together on this indexing tool.   Dan's
Spotlight Bodger is a great boon for consumer users plagued with
terminal-phobia.  Just looking into Terminal can be intimidating.  I
feel sure that most Macintosh users never go near it.  I used it only
once, for the three commands.  It took me a while to even get used to
the idea.  The Apple help line uses the three commands, and beyond
that approach, they simply lead to an Archive & Install.

Now, what is the next step?  Get DSB into MacFixIt?  Folks frequently
go to the Apple support forums for this indexing problem; why not
offer it there?  Macworld should publicize it online and in the hard
copy magazine.
