This is a very helpful review of steps I have found for myself to work several times in Erase & Install and in migrating to new machines. I offer a few modifications.

Maybe document them in step 1 along with the other > documentation you make of your previous setup. I do not use rules, but note Gary D.'s message pointing to the Apple article TS2537. That could have saved me having to retrain the new Mail about Junk.
