And. . .

Be very careful when you talk to the company representative, probably in India, 
who will reflexively tell you that it's not compatible unless you paid your DSL 
provider for it.

If you push, with reasons why you need the features of the proposed 
replacement,. you have a chance of getting a well thought out response.

ATM, asynchronous transfer mode and nothing to do with automated teller 
machine, is quite common in the DSL world but there is no requirement on 
providers to use it. You could ask if your provider uses ATM and if the 
Speedstream is compatible.  ADSL is an acronym I don't recognize but you should 
look it up.
