I turned on the (3rd party) Airport card in my G5, and since it didn't have a DHCP server to talk to assigned it a static IP address (192.168.1.100.) I then created a network called pmg5 with a 10-bit password. I then shared the connection. So far so good. But what happened next was unexpected. On my PC laptop with Bonjour installed, I then looked for a wireless network called pmg5. To my surprise, though, it was unsecured. I connected to it, but couldn't get to the Internet, so I turned on DHCP on my PC's wireless card. Oddly enough, it grabbed an IP address of 10.0.1.2 with a gateway of 10.0.1.1, instead of the 192.168.100.1 address I had assigned my G5's Airport card. I was then able to get on the Internet. Jeff, the same principal should apply to your USB connection. If you share your internet connection port through Internet Sharing, and then use DHCP on your clients, it should work for you. I'm not sure why your connection was slow sharing over your Airport, though. Bruce, is my experience typical of Internet sharing? Of concern is the fact that the network I created with a password actually had no security at all. I'm also a bit miffed that Leopard decided to assign an arbitrary address to my G5's Airport card, overriding the one I had manually selected. Might it have something to do with the fact that Bonjour is installed on my PC?
