Electroniucs prefer powering simultaneously. In fact, some
electronics contain a device to act that creates that effect because
low voltage on power up is a desireable feature (but not for electric
motors).

A UPS in battery backup mode can output some of the 'dirtiest'
electricity a computer may see. For example, this 120 volt UPS
outputs two 200 volt square waves with a spike of up to 270 volts
between those square waves; called a modified sine wave. No problem
for any computer. But may be destructive to surge power strips.

Better is to use a regular $4 power strip (with the always essential
15 amp circuit breaker) rather than a $25 strip protector. That
protector will degrade and be harmed by a UPS or may be harmful to
that UPS. Its not 'noise'. Its transients generated by a computer
grade UPS such as that spike of up to 270 volts.

A typical computer grade UPS outputs some of the dirtiest
electricity when in battery backup mode. That electricity can be
harmful to strip protectors and motorized appliances (ie Laser
printer). But that same electricity is ideal for computers and other
'robust' electronics.
