I wouldn't expect it to have any trouble. I haven't tried SUSE but I
have got Fedora 10 & 11, Debian 5 and YDL 5 running on various
machines and none have had trouble with wired Ethernet. I do have a
Wallstreet that I haven't been able to get a WiFi card working on but
it's wired connection is okay.

How is it being set up, DHCP or static. On some of the distros you
can use either Network Manager or not (I don't recall the name of the
other method) to configure network interfaces. Sometimes you end up
with neither method doing the configuring.

Try doing "ifconfig" in a shell to see how it is set up. Post the
results here. You are specifically looking for "eth0" or something
like that. You can ignore the "lo" entries. (You may need root
access to run ifconfig).

It should look something like:

eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:05:02:7c:9f:b2
           inet addr:192.168.2.181  Bcast:192.168.2.255  Mask:
255.255.255.0
           inet6 addr: fe80::205:2ff:fe7c:9fb2/64 Scope:Link
           UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
