I have no idea if this will help, but I recently had an experience with my MDD that might be helpful. I own a 1.42 ghz MDD that had been acting up. I traced the problems to the motherboard, and bought a replacement on ebay. The replacement had a 167 bus speed, but was a different model number than the board that came in my MDD. When I tried to boot my G4 with the new board and my 1.42 processor, I got no video and it never showed up on my network. I'm guessing that's what's happening with your MDD right now. I may be wrong, but it sure sounds like what was happening with mine.
