Greetings, My B&W has been having difficulty starting up these days. This has been going on for a couple of weeks, but today, it was particularly bad. It took me dozens of try to finally get the HDs to spin up and boot. (I have 2 internal HDs in the B&W.) Thankfully, it did finally boot, but I am really rattled. I am afraid to turn the CPU off for fear that it won't come back when I need it. I zapped the PRAM, and did a deep reset with COMMAND OPTION O F. The B&W would not boot from a CD or my external Firewire drive. Why not? My boot drive is a new Seagate 80 GB, the second drive is a Quantum Fireball...(a little older.)
My first guess is the power supply, but, like I said, it is just a guess. Clearly, the old B&W has issues, so I am writing to my fellow enthusiasts in this Group for further diagnosis. B&W with Sonnet upgrade to 500mhz G4. Internal ZIP, CD, 896 MB RAM. Next question: if I decide to replace the B&W, I want my new Mac to use my existing hard drives....what model Mac would you all suggest?
