It certainly would. But the question was how to install Mac OS 9 on the MDD 
FW800, not on another Mac and then transfer it with a parition copier like 
CCC.

If one uses the CCC method, the drivers might be an issue. Not every Mac uses 
the same drivers under Mac OS 7/8/9. On a different system there may be 
trouble.
And you'd still need to initialize the hard disk with Mac OS 9 drivers and 
you'd need to prepare a seperate partition for the CCC-copied Mac OS 9.
