If not able to use another Mac to transfer via CCC a copy of OS 9,  
then as Kris suggested, this should be the only route.

You need to have partitioned the hard drive and use the Install OS 9  
drivers option, before you could possibly use an OS 9 partition as  
Classic.

The MDD does not boot OS 9, whether its from a hard drive or a CD,  
correct?

So you cannot install from an OS 9 CD.
