IIRC,  USB 1 is rated at a maximum of 12 Mb/s, while your "broadband" 
speeds will be well under 1Mb/s (I generally get 0.4 to 0.8 from my 
provider), so I don't see the problem with the USB port.  Have you 
tried it?
