I empathize with you!

The same thing happened to my QS 2002. The main drive is still OK, but
the IDE/ATA drive and two external USB drives all have the padlock and
give the "insifficient prvileges" error message.

These drives are not accessible when the machine is booted from the
10.5 install DVD, nor do any of the solutions offered on Apple's pages
work out.

Logging out as owner and logging in as "root" doesn't work, either.

I've been good about doing backups and now can't access my backup
disks!

Sure hope we get an answer!
