Is this the original hard drive in this machine ?
If it is, then it is what - close to ten years old - a pensioner in computing 
years.
I'd look at that as probably the main culprit here going by some of the follow 
up postings about other symptoms and not your video card.
A reinstall of OS9.2 wouldn't hurt either to start with but I'd look at getting 
a newer HD first.
If you had no other symptoms , I'd say video card too and look at replacing the 
heatsink with a small onboard fan. Sometimes the thermal paste between the chip 
and the heatsink can become brittle and ineffective over time leading to the 
card overheating and exhibiting symptoms like yours, so a clean and 
reapplication can fix that or a better solution is to replace the heatsink with 
a fan.
