Wow your OS X goes to Eleven!! :-P I'll hazard a guess that you mean 10.4.11? Have you tried starting the Mac with the disk already in the Syquest? I know that when I needed to recover some data off of a Jaz drive it wouldn't be recognized unless the disk was inserted and running before I started the Mac.
