Why not just do an upgrade install?

Upgrade is what you do from a lower system version to a higher system version, for example you upgrade from any Jaguar version to any Panther version. Upgrade installs generally preserve system settings. Archive install is when you're downgrading an installation. For example, let's say you've got a 10.5 Leopard installer DVD and you're running an updated version of Leopard 10.5.8. In this instance, you need to do an Archive installation to preserve your user accounts and settings, and the you'll need to run Software Update again because the Archive installation will be a 10.5.0 installation, and you'll want to get back to 10.5.8.

Upgrade will take you UP in system version.
Archive will take you DOWN in system version.

Which you chose depends upon what system version you're using, and what version installer disc you have.

I know this, but Jonas here is going up, and an upgrade seems to be a better option.
