Hi! I have a G3 B&W 350 MHz (Rev. A) running Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger".
I found something about PCI Extreme! which apparently enables Quarz Extreme for PCI graphics cards like the one in my Yosemite: a ATi Rage 128. http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/osx/quartz_extreme_pci_mod.html Now I see that this hack will no longer work with Tiger 10.4.3 and newer. Well, I'm using 10.4.11 -- so it won't work? The author of PCI Extreme! writes at versiontracker.com (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/16006) that it won't work in 10.4.3+ for _both_ AGP and PCI at the same time, thus further developement has stopped. But will it sill work with _only_ a PCI card involved? Is this recommended by anyone? Is there a gain in speed? Is there any advantage at all? I don't want to make my Mac OS X installation unusable by experimenting too much. The G3 serves me well at work, so I don't have the time to reinstall it all just because I make weird things with it.
