Thanks, Bruce. An archive & install of Leopard didn't even occur to
me, though I suppose it should've. I'll make a backup before I zap
10.6, then I'll install Leopard from my family pack. Is there any
advantage to installing Leopard from the system disc vs. the retail?

Well, actually before I do all that I need to get permission...we'll
see how that goes. I'm eager to try the experiment, though.
