I've gotten a whole slew of programs off systems I've acquired. I never have gotten one from the side of the road or from dumpster diving. I contemplated picking up an iMac at the dump when I was dropping stuff off but it was no better than the two I already had sitting idle (although it might have been worth it for the memory and HD).

I got one machine from a local medical center with all sorts of notes on treatment but none was patient data. I think if I had I might have reported it. I do look at people's data, mostly out of curiosity as to how careless people can be.

I then format the drive, I don't bother zeroing it, that's a waste of time.
