If they're new drives, then the funky 35 second noises are probably 'normal'. Keep good backups, but if they continue to work and not start throwing disk errors, I expect you're fine.
As many others have said, those old SCSI drives are very noisy. In fact we had several servers loaded with 5 of that model in a RAID. I don't remember any particular sound from them, but that could have entirely been because of the wall of noise coming from the fans in the things.
