A Widget problem? Perhaps open Dashboard and close all the open  
Widgets, or, if you rarely use Widgets, kill off Dashboard completely  
with something like DisableTigerFeatures 1.0.3a <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26899
