I guess the only question I would have is how "preferred" is it?
GUID is the future. I would not expect to see APM supported much beyond SL.
Some folx have reported that GUID drives perform faster. I guess
they seem to boot faster - but that's mostly because the bootstrap
looks for GUID first.
I would worry about whether updates, especially firmware updates,
would install correctly
to a non-GUID drive.
Firmware is flashed into a chip on the logic board. Nothing to do
with the data on the disc.
