I want to change the Computer icon in the sidebar on my machines
to indicate the correct model, however when I get info on the
file it says read only and it wont accecpt the pasted new icon.
How can I get this to work?

I give up. Which "sidebar" would this be?
The sidebar in the HDD system widow. It shows all the availible
devices and network choices along with places and major folders.

Ok, I see the thing, though I don't use it much. I don't have
"Computer" checked so only see icons for hard disks and servers.
Checking that box gives me a "generic" icon showing a lampshade Mac
instead of my MDD. Must be Apple programming in the system as in the
old "dogcow?"
