I'm not an expert on icons, but here are some ideas.

The OS X System icons for Leopard 10.5 are located in System>Library>CoreServices>CoreTypes.bundle>(control-click) Show Package Contents>Contents>Resources.

These are System files, and as such, the ownership and permissions are important, and if you change any of these files, the new files while likely need to have the EXACT same File name & ownership/permissions as the original. I suspect that the Computer icon may be set in the info.plist file, which in this case is a binary file that's not going to be possible to edit easily. If the Computer icon is set in the info.plist file, the only way to change it would be to find the icon that's being used now and replace it with whatever icon you wish to use. Be sure to keep a copy of the original, and also name the replacement identical to the original with correct ownership and permissions.
