You did not tell us what printer brand = I had endless issues with hp and 
finally Ken sent me a fix and it worked - I hope he will respond to your issue 
- he is on the list.

The Mac in question is a G5 iMac running Tiger 10.4.11
When I try to install a new printer, the driver won't show up on the list, so 
installation stalls.
This has happened when I try to install the same printer that works fine on my 
G3 iMac running the same OS.
Any ideas to remedy the situation?
