ipod(s) version 4 onwards require 10.5 , so there is no way round the registration, also the ipods software will not be up-to-date to use with 10.4 and cannot be updated manually. You will need 10.5 on the ac to complete n use or try in find a older ipod say on eBay to use it. There are specs in the literture for the ipod and it will day 10.5 or greater
