I hope someone can help me on this.
I have a G4 MDD 1.42 GHz
2 GB ram
OS 10.5.8
One of my four internal hard drives, a 3 year old Maxtor 500 GB drive
will not mount.
System profiler see the disk and reports it "S.M.A.R.T status verified".
Disk Utility see the drive, reports "S.M.A.R.T status verified" but
does not show the volume name, the "mount" button is grayed out and I
cannot mount it.
I also tried another utility "iMount" but it does not see the HD.
I tried reformatting the drive with Disk Utility and I get an error.
I removed the drive, changed the jumper setting and put it in an
external USB case and I get the same results.
I connected the drive to my wife's 2010 iMac (OS 10.6) and the disk
utility sees it and the volume name, but again they are grayed out
along with the "Mount" button. I tried to reformat it with her Disk
Utility and it just hangs on "Un-mounting Drive"
Any suggestions?
Nick
