Now when I connect the drive using USB Disk Utility does not see it at all. I get this log entry: Feb 19 14:40:59: --- last message repeated 1 time --- Feb 19 14:40:59 Grey kernel[0]: Path /dev/disk5s3] [FSLogMsgID 486036030] [FSLogMsgOrder Last] Feb 19 14:40:59 Grey kernel[0]: jnl: disk5s3: do_jnl_io: strategy err 0x6 Feb 19 14:40:59 Grey kernel[0]: jnl: disk5s3: replay_journal: Could not read block list header block @ 0x1021000! Feb 19 14:40:59 Grey kernel[0]: jnl: disk5s3: restarting journal replay (16912384 - 16895488)! Feb 19 14:40:59 Grey kernel[0]: It also causes the log to keep repeating this message even after the drive is turned off, the result being that I cannot shut down the computer. I downloaded and burned the Seagate utility and will try it later but I believe that the drive is bad. I thought that I had a 5 year warranty on this drive but I went to the Seagate site and I get an error when I try to check the warranty status. I Emailed them but they are not replying.
