The above are normal - from the volumes being mounted.

Aug 29 15:17:57 PMacG5 kernel[0]: FireWire (OHCI) Apple ID 42 built-in: 53
bus resets in last minute.

Should not happen except when a cable is plugged in or removed. And even then, it should be a single reset.

The bus' controller could not talk across the bus, so it tried to reset the whole thing... 53 times!

Try cleaning the cable/mac connectors, both sides - socket and plug. Try a different cable.

Aug 29 15:19:54 PMacG5 kernel[0]: disk1s10: I/O error.

Now we have a *hard* *unrecoverable* disk i/o error. Normally, I'd say to look at the drive... but given the earlier errors, I'd deal with the firewire cable and connectors first. If the problem continues then look to the controllers (since this is a Mac<->Mac connection).

When doing these operations, have Console.app open, viewing the system.log. That way you can see the errors *as they occur*. They are *unrecoverable* errors. If the packet was not resent, then there is probably corrupted data. If the app involved hasn't complained, then it's possible that it's happily been writing corrupted data to the destination!
