Hello Mark,
With the 1.6 GHz accelerator, your G4+ should not balk at all at
trying to install Leopard - I have done it several times using OWC
extreme processor upgrades; no need for hacks, or cloning - just do
it!
If you DO have trouble getting your accelerated G4 to boot up using
the install DVD (I presume you are installing off of a retail DVD, not
a grey specific-model copy), as I did have, make sure the culprit is
not an older DVD drive that is having difficulty reading the Leopard
DVD's dual-layer format (different from Tiger). I had to upgrade my
optical on one G4-plus unit before i had a successful boot off the
DVD.
