And dampness, dust, vibrations, shocks... the car seems to me the LAST place
to put an hard drive (or any backup item, for that matter). ;-)

Placing the backup away from home can be an addition layer of safety... but
you need to make sure you can get your data back.
A girlfriend/boyfriend might not be the best way, then: if you fight and
break up, you aren't sure of seeing again your backup.

Maybe your mom's home is a safer bet. :-D
... unless she thinks CD/DVDs are coasters...! ;-DDD
