Why do you want to disable this feature? Safe Sleep is a Good Thing. It lets you *fully* sleep the computer, not just sortof sleep while still sucking some power.

And the size of the SleepImage file is always identical to the amount of RAM you have installed because it's just a copy of the RAM's contents. This also enables the super fast reboots because the Mac simply loads the SleepImage back into RAM and you're instantly booted exactly like you left-off before. When you delete the file, the Mac must reboot from scratch which usually takes a couple minutes vs. the couple seconds it takes to reboot from Safe Sleep mode.
