This is typically managed by the application. Some apps, like
Office and Photoshop, will let you set default save points; others
will revert to wherever you last saved a file, regardless of where
the current file was opened. Still others will do save as where you
last opened a file. And all of them will get confused if the volume
you last saved to is no longer accessible.
Wopuld you know if there is there a trend towards a common place to
address this? PREFERENCES usually doesn;t get me to anything helpful.
