The 8600 has two SCSI buses: a 10 MB/sec internal bus and a 5 MB-sec external bus. Each bus must be separately terminated. The standard internal cable is 1-wide, as is the external bus, although the external bus is 25 pins and not 50. In any case, SCA drives are 2-wide and you are expecting the drive to auto-negotiate to 1-wide. Not all adapter cards are properly designed to allow the drive to auto-negotiate down to 1-wide from the default which is 2-wide. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
