firm. I frequently get the connection issue (I am pretty sure that
is it) icon when checking mail. The icon that is an exclamation
point in a triangle inside a circle. It normally goes away the next
time Mail autochecks for new mail, but right now it has been in this
state for 45 minutes.
Open Mail's "Activity View" window then check mail. That should give
you a better error message. Try also its "Connection Doctor".
