A friend has offered to sell me his Quad Core G5 which he says is in Mint condition.
One problem he noticed was that in Sleep Mode, it would occasionally turn on all its fans ... which he says was fixed when he runs a program named "SOX". More of a software issue than hardware. I am concerned about the LCS ... except that it is a Late 2005 model. He says he has cleaned the inside, making it free of dust ... and noticed no fluids of any kind. Then, I asked him about the LCS, and he didn't know it had one ... so I assume he has not looked at the cpu area. It's already packed for shipping ... so opening it back up was not an option ... he says it is running just fine.
