Should you want to prepare the machine for a new user, so s/he has to go through the process of adding a user and password, the following process may be used (this also works should you forget your own password): 1) boot the machine into single user mode using CMD-s, 2) enter the command fsck -fy 3) enter the command mount -uw / 4) enter the command rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone 5) enter the command shutdown -h now The machine will power itself off.
