This will work for a Firewire port, but the original idea was to access Target Disk Mode, which only works with the built-in Firewire. I've got a similar 2.0 dual G5 and it's had some problems with Firewire in the past which seemed intermittent and definitely came back to full functionality after a period of not working. I didn't "do anything" to fix it, other than zap the PRAM & reset the NVRAM. A dead PRAM battery might be an issue? -- -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
