Maybe, on the New Buddy Pounce Dialog, by the screenname textfield, a radio button could disable/enable whether or not the user would like to create a new Buddy Pounce by actual screen name or by the alias associated with them. Behind the scenes, if a Buddy Pounce was created by alias, when the Buddy Pounce was saved, a simple method call to find the actual screen name of the alias could be done. That screenname, not the alias, would be passed to the createNewBuddyPounce (or whatever) method, saving the need for remodeling the Gaim event structure, of course. Also, since aliases only exist in small quantity from the user's buddy list, when a new Buddy Pounce is saved, the dialog could check to see if that alias has been registered and, if not, it could notify the user that, "Whoops! The alias you're trying to use does not exist! Please check your spelling."
