Summary: It is a time of great hope and challenge for the people of East Timor as the transition is made from the administration of the U.N. to the territory gaining full independence. The YMCAs of Australia are working collaboratively with the East Timorese community and the YMCAs of the Asia and Pacific Alliance with the aim of developing a vibrant indigenous YMCA. A suitably qualified and experienced Community Development Worker is now sought to lead this project, undertaking the facilitation of community development initiatives and collective solutions to community needs. The successful applicant will develop, support and implement an environment that has a commitment to the inherent values of the YMCA, including empowerment of individuals, advocacy of rights and reconciliation of communities. Salary: $55k Neg Qualifications: With experience in project management and community development, preferably within remote locations where cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in an unstructured environment were vital to success, you will be innovative and creative in response to challenges, and able to communicate with a diverse range of individuals.
