I'm registered at the AudioGames.net forum and there was a lot of that going
on there. It got extremely old rather quickly. When people ordered Monty and
then didn't get it, they started flaying James alive. There was another
developer, Orio Games I believe, and they also got a lot of flack, perhaps
because like James they probably went public a bit too soon. Last I heard
Orio didn't exist anymore, and Tournament of the Nine Kings, their flagship
project, went with them. There were a few people who contributed more than
the others to the flames. There was one kid in particular who took every
chance he could to call Alchemy Game Studios and Orio Games phony companies.
He even had a web site called Quality Audio Games, but where there were no
games, only a coming soon! note in that section of the site. Then when he
finally did put up a game called Ace Fire, it wasn't worth anyone's time. It
ran, yes, and it didn't crash anybody's system (not that many people played
it), but you were done almost before you started. Then it turned out it
wasn't even his game. It was on his site but he didn't do any of the work.
He had a field day when Castle Quest was shelved, going so far as to imply
that BSC Games was yet another phony company. He even made the riddiculous
statement that sighted gamers in the mainstream market didn't have that sort
of trouble with games getting canceled. That is just not true. Sometimes
four or five-hundred games a year get shelved, out of how many more? The
market is so large that when a game gets shelved people barely bat an eye.
Then you have our market, which I must say is painfully small just at the
moment, where if a game is simply set back a month there's a squall, then a
cyclone if the same game or another one gets canceled. That's why I don't
post at AudioGames.net that often. Most of them are actually quite friendly,
willing to give the developer time and space, but a few...I could name them
but I won't out of respect. The last thing I want is a flame war.
It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go.

Very true, and I hope those who gave him such horrible childish treatment
have learned their lesson on what can happen. They cut our gaming throats
with their impatient selfishness.
