It all depends on what you want to make.
Firstly unless you want to make a licenced product, you don't really
need to spend the 600 or so to buy bgt outright or the 99 bucks or is
it 199 bucks to buy per licenced game, eventually after a few games
you will own things but one game per code.
if you just want to compile its 35 bucks.
Saying that opensource games can stay in open source sorce file format.
Now if you are in a group shouldn't be a problem with one person
compiling the games.
with sounds it all depends.
most free sounds are just that free sounds.
on youtube, it depends.
A lot of sounds/music is copywrite.
there is usually a link to buy the stuff either on a website or via
itunes or something.

As I'm starting to seriously consider 3-d game programming, I've run
into several questions regarding bgt, sounds, and licensing:
Firstly, I'm wondering if there are any license issues if I
use soundds from a source such as youtube in games; I would presume
that it's a bit of a gray area, but I have very limited knowledge
of such things, so I figured I'd ask here.
Secondly, if I get sounds from a free source, is it legal for me to
edit them before use in my projects?
Next, while I have bgt installed on my personal computer, I'm
wondering if it's legal for me to take the program (unregistered
version) with me on a flash drive, as I do with the jdk compiler for java.
Finally, if several people are working on a project, and only one of
them has a registration for bgt, is it legal for that person to
compile the game for the whole group and to distribute the game
under the name of the group?
Thanks,
John.
