Hi Nicol I picked Sarah as the main character in my game first because I have not purchased the rights to use the Harry Potter name in my game, and second because there are few female main characters in accessible games today. Plus if I wanted Harry to be in the game I would need to include all his hundreds of friends which would be a task beyond one person to program. So I set the story of the game during the Summer Holidays when there would be no students in the school. If you have read the books then you would know that there are a few people that do live in the castle all year around. One of them is the caretaker who takes care of the castle. Of course the castle is the building for the school so they are both the same thing. In the castle are also the caretaker's pet cat, a mate to the snake that Harry killed years ago and ghosts of former students. Plus there are a few other creatures that you will come into contact with like a Goblin that will only take your money. Although there are spells that do kill in the Harry potter books I chose not to put them in the Sarah game to make it less violent and suitable for younger people to play. You can stun the creatures and ghosts but that just puts them to sleep for a short time. Or you can try to scare them away which chases them away but they soon come back to trouble you. When you encounter a creature and touch it you do loose some magical energy and if you lose all your energy your father will show up to take you back home. But you will not die, just be kicked out of the castle. The objective is to explore the floors of the castle finding magical objects that do things like the broom allows you to fly and solve puzzles and ultimately to figure a way out of the castle with your objects. There is a final challenge in the game that concerns Quidditch, which is a sport that the magical people play.
Hope this helps to understand the game.
