Hi Darren.
I'm not anti number crunching by any means, (at least in moderation), my
problem with a lot of the games like ateraeon space stratogy, the old
fantasy empires, tribal wars etc, is that basically yoour number crunching
is usually the same thing over and over again.
You don't have random events to knock you off course, different things to do
at different levels. It's all a matter of just finding the best
cost/bennifit setup once and then repeating with bigger buildings, no
spacial management, no need to time what your doing around different events
etc.
while Ce certainly employs it's share of stats, the thing I like in Ce is
that raising your stats means changing your play style and having more to
do.
In fairness Ce isn't the only game that I've seen work like this. Castaways
certainly did as far as it went, and in the main stream sim city and theme
park and definitely did, as you had to follow different planning strategies
and had different desasters and environmental hazards to cope with at
different points in the game, it just narks me that not as many acessible
strategies do this, ---- though I'll be interested to see what the newer
version of Time of Conflict has to add.
Beware the grue!
Dark.
