Well I still occasionally play packman with my limited vision, although it's not the easiest game to play with low visual field. the first answer is yes, Phil included the ghosts in packman talks precisely because they're in mainstream packman. The second answer is a little harder because packman being a very old game never had particularly specific ghraphics that give a clear sense of things, so the ghosts in mainstream packman were just sort of undistinguished shapes in redd, green or blue with eyes and a mouth, just the same way packman himself is basically just like a circle with a bit cutout (imagine a pizza with a slice missing). This lack of detail in older graphics is a little hard to explain if you've not had sight, and even to me, who has limited vision and needs to pretty much guess at what things are it is a somewhat difficult concept but I will try to explain. In Sansens carnival of the animals he makes the sound of a lion raw by playing a long chromatic run up and down several octives of the piano. Well, that as compared to the real sound of a lion raw is rather like the old atari style graphics compared to real objects. It's a sort of vague outline. if you weren't told that the ghosts were ghosts you probably wouldn't know what they were. Hope that sort of makes sense. All the best, Dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ [email protected] If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [email protected].
