Not unless your current park is full. While you don't need to fill
every pitch it helps save money if you try and get as much as you can
on the amount you have to start with as an additional 10 squares,
which isn't much, will cost 250,000, and that is too much for someone
who is still trying to get the business going. Only buy land when your
park is doing well, making money, and you are certain you can really
afford the land.

For the larger rides that take two or three pitches simply plan ahead
and leave space open for them.  If you can't do that you may want to
tear down a couple of cheaper rides to make room for them. That is
cheaper and less costly than buying additional land.
