Hi anouk.
Torn city I have heard of and tried, but what are these other games like
Fallen london?
Perhaps you could either provide links, or contact Tom lorimer of
www.whitestick.co.uk to have the games added to his "games to play online"
page which is a great archive of accessible browser games.
All the best,
Dark.

Hi dark and others,
A few other games that might be interesting to some and that are
accessible and browser based.
First of all torn city (google for it and you will find it) its a
multiplayer crime-based rpg like game. I liked it for a while
Now the game fallen londen and the other games by the seem company you can
find them if you google for storynexus.com <http://storynexus.com/> these
are mostly singeplayer. I especially liked fallen london although it does
not seem to be updated as much anymore but still with all the content that
is available it will keep you busy for quite a while.

Hi Anouk.
I've not heard of Eagis specifically, but there are a lot of those styles
of games around. Personally I never felt that interested sinse to me,
fighting and exploring the environment to protect your population is much
more interesting than watching a bunch of static timers and playing who
can grind the fastest against other human players, ---- then again I'm
much more a single player sort of bod anyway.
Puppet nightmares is a browser based game, sort of like a dark and
twisted version of Pokemon.dark and slightly adult version of Pokemon.
You collect, control and breed magical creatures called soul puppets,
going through a story about a child in germany who has lost his/her
brother and finds that they were involved with a certainly very dark and
magical game.
The game is slightly adult (it has for example a brothel where soul
puppets may breed and lay egs to produce new ones), and also horribly
complex.
You control three puppets at once and usually fight parties of three
enemies, each can have their own actions, with different moves, diciplins
etc, in addition each has equipment, elemental weaknesses and all sorts
of other complexity.
The only really major issue with the game is that there isn't much by way
of explanitory text, the battles, though mechanically very complex all
have descriptions like "jo uses wind hammer on jane for 280 damage" and
though there are lots of npcs to talk to and do quests for, you just get
their dialogue and not the descriptions.
It's a game where though the rules and mechanics are all accessible, some
of the atmosphere is imho a bit lost. Still, it is free to play although
it has a very fare system of donation currency and is definitely one if
you like tactical turn based battling and a slightly disturbing story.
I'd recommend you look at
http://www.audiogames.net/db.php?id=Puppet+nightmares sinse the web pages
require some navigation having hotspots, mouseovers and links, although
everything in the game is labeled and accessible, it just helps to know
your screen readers' web navigation tools to speed up looking through
headings, buttons, mouseovers etc.
Hth.
All the best,
Dark.

Hi, I have never heard of puppet nightmares, what is that?
Aegis (it used to be called differently in the past i forgot its
original title) is a sort of empire building game where you start with a
small piece of land and you have to make more of it while feeding your
population/keeping it happy and defending your lands. It works with
resources and you build buildings in order to creat them and for example
to be able to get different kind of trained soldiers. You also build
things like walls to defend your land. You can become part of a clan.
I am not sure if it is even around anymore a quick google search does
not seem to bring up the relevant page.

What is Aegis? I thought I knew and had played most browser rpgs,
though I don't recognize that one.
I agree with you about KoL, I got a little sick of needing to use the
wiki so much, I also didn't like the fact that once the donation item
was gone for a month, ---- well tough luck! I don't mind games with a
monthly subscription if the game is good, or with items available to
buy, but it actually seemed quite a wasteful bit of game design to go
to the trouble of programming new items with interesting effects and
often access to new areas then only offer them once. Quite different
from Puppet nightmares and the way that game recycles it's monthly
items.
All the best,
Dark.
There is always more to know, more to see, more to learn. The world is
vast and wondrous strange and there are more things benieth the stars
than even the archmaesters of the citadel can dream.

Hi,
I played KoL too years ago but the puzzles just seemed too random. The
only online rpg that i have played for a really long time has been
aegis and perhaps sryth.
The game i could not remember in my last mail is of course astro
galaxy.

Hi Emily.
I enjoyed KoL, but I found that the turn limit, not to mention
irrationality of the puzzles was a real pest sometimes, indeed I
played very seriously for a couple of months and spent quite a bit of
money getting some fun items, but I just found it too hard to log in
each day to play a turtle tamer or seal clubber or whatever in a
random kingdom of drunken hippies and the like. I wanted something a
little more serious and meaningful, and something I didn't feel I
needed the wiki so often for.
All the best,
Dark.
